President's Message To Members:

Members certainly have the right to contact other Members to solicit support for whatever cause is at hand, and I would encourage you to take the time to hear what the issues are. If you agree, sign the petition. If you don't agree, print your name and state that you don't agree! This documentation will provide a better picture of how issues are felt by the membership - pro and con. From the information I am receiving, the same names keep appearing on different issues - is there a pattern here?

With Spring just around the corner, there are several Club issues to resolve the impact all of us. Santa Teresa Sea Otters will be encouraging families to enroll and help maintain our reputation of having one of the best current and future Cabana Swim Teams in our league. All swimmers, even with minimal skills, are encouraged to sign up and develop into future stars! Our budget is being scrutinized for realistic goals and will be fine tuned to meet our on-going needs. Contract employees and seasonal staff have to be secured to enable us to provide operational support for the Club Season. Club maintenance projects have to be evaluated and committed to prior to Club opening to ensure that there will be little impact for Club use, Many activities and social requests for special meetings, to have forum discussions on a variety of issues that involve all of us. Hopefully, we can consolidate the requests into a single session for our Annual Spring Membership Meeting (tentatively slated for Sunday, March 26th at 7:00 PM). We will make every attempt to keep all of you apprised of these meetings, so that you will have an opportunity to participate. As usual, the Board of Directors is committed to providing what is deemed most suitable for the operation of the Club, at reasonable cost, with accountability! Not everyone will be happy with results; but, as usual, it is the majority vote, whether the Board or the membership, that will ultimately prevail! In order for the best interests to be produced, it is imperative that all eligible member households participate. Don't allow the special interest groups determine issues that you may not agree with!

It has been brought to my attention, on more than one occasion, than certain newsletter articles provided as "interest" are considered "opinion only" and should not be included. The newsletter promotes any article that brings about positive consciousness of issues that impact our neighborhood. There's a real world out there, folks, and we occupy only a little portion of it - so , if there's information that affects us, what better way than through the Newsletter! Which brings up another issue - my offering my own opinion. If not my opinion, then what's the President's Message about? If I erred, it is by not stating that the representation if for the majority of the membership. I make every effort to promote a positive image of the Board of Directors doing the best that we can to provide for you the membership, a safe and well maintained Club facility and operation. If there are those that feel differently, and that have to disseminate "information" that is conjecture, innuendo, suspicion, and without basis of fact, then I feel it is necessary to have to express myself! It is the most daunting and time-consuming job this Board has had to fact - continually being on the defensive and being ineffective in trying to conduct business! Your encouraging support of the majority of Board of Directors is most welcome (and necessary!) See you around the Neighborhood...
Ty Chew, President

SPECIAL CLUB FINANCIAL STATEMENT

Dear Rancho Santa Teresa Swim and racquet Club home Owners,

This statement is written to counter some misconceptions that have resulted from a flyer circulating in the Club area. There is NO missing $200,000 from the Club accounts and there IS accountability for ALL moneys taken in and paid out of the Club's accounts. A Cash Flow Statement is created and presented every month at the Club Board Meeting that details all the year-to-date income and expenses for the Club. This Cash Flow Statement has been published in the Club Bulletin from time to time and is always available to any member upon request. A Balance Sheet showing the Club's assets and liabilities as of the end of the fiscal year (12/31) is presented at the Club's Spring meetings. This document is also available to any Club member upon request. The Club records are reviewed on a monthly basis.

To imply that Club money is missing or unaccounted for is in error and implies that the Board members or employees might be involved in some kind of cover-up. The Club's records, other than Personnel Records and Individual Homeowners Account Records, are available for viewing by any Club member after making arrangements with the Club Board President. To insure the integrity of the databases, direct access can only be done by authorized persons. If you have any questions, bring them to the Club Board meetings and Board members will be happy to answer them. If your questions cannot be answered for you immediately, a search will be made to find the information.

Troop 227 will be holding its annual snow trek this month. This is a 3 day, 2 night camp out. We will be going to Indian Grinding Rock State Park which is located off Highway 88 above Jackson. We will be camping below the snow line and will drive to the snow for the day. Besides sledding and other snow play, we plan to arrange skiing at Kirkwood for those who ski.

We chose Indian Grinding Rick because they have good campsites and hot showers which are great after a day in the snow. While there, we will tour the Indian Museum and check out the grinding rock and replica of a native dwelling. This will be a fun filled and educational outing.

Troop 227 meets at the club on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. We encourage boys between the ages of 11 (10 1/2 if bridging from Cub Scouts) an 17 to visit during a meeting to see what we're all about. We have an exciting program which promises to be filled with fun and adventure, as well as learning life skills and good citizenship. Scouting is committed to provide a safe, wholesome environment for boys.

New Year's Eve was a great success and enjoyed by many club members and their friends. Our club put
out the Ritz for you that evening and it did shine with the best of them that night. Much work and
effort is always involved in putting these events on. We must give thanks to many people who worked
long hard hours to make this event a special one for you.

First and foremost, we thank the Winchester Family for once again coming out and spending long
hours with decorations and lights. Next, Don McRoberts for his fine tuning. Mecca Conaulty who had
the vision of the transformation and the hours to make it happen. Cynthia Luna for her effort to get
donations and making favors. Josephine Livingstone for her help in creating a magical night with the
decorations. Lastly, Ty Chew who is always there to help and lend support to all out club functions
and events.
