Subj: Plant Trees in South San Jose
From: mkimbel@ourcityforest.org (Melanie Kimbel)

Our City Forest has grants to plant trees in South San Jose. This means there is no cost to the recipients.

Free Shade Trees:
Free 15-gallon shade trees are available for planting along the streets and on the public school grounds of the following neighborhoods:

Blossom Valley, Canoas Garden, Century, Chynoweth, Coyote, Downtown San Jose, Edenvale, Hellyer, Monterey Highway corridor, Rancho Narvaez, Santa Teresa, Senter, Seven Trees, Silver Creek, Silver Leaf, Stonegate, Sunrise Valley, Sylvandale, Thousand Oaks, Vista Park and Willow Glen.

A very limited number of free trees are still available for planting on streets and school grounds of neighborhoods not listed. Please contact us to inquire about the availability of grants for planting in your neighborhood.

Plantings of 20 or more trees are especially encouraged and will receive first priority for scheduling this spring.

Details:
In addition to providing the trees and supplies Our City Forest will conduct site inspections, select species, obtain proper permits, order trees and supplies, provide tools and coordinate event logistics. Professional staff and trained volunteers from Our City Forest will also assist at each tree planting. These services are free. Residents are expected to help with the planting of their trees, if they are able, and to monitor their trees for 3 years after planting.

Join us in making 2003 a green year for San José! Go to our web site at www.ourcityforest.org for more information or call (408) 998-7337.
