Subj: recycled water for cooling
From: Timalton@aol.com

It's good to see that folks with no apparent grasp of what the project entails are still winning even as the process moves through the courts.
(This was an attempt at biting sarcasm while the quotes from the Mercury News article below are not. At least 80% of the 3 million gallons will not return to the water pollution control plant, but will be blown into the air through the cooling towers. I guess if you're a staff attorney there is no need to even read your own company's fact sheet on the web.)

ARTICLE:

Calpine anticipates funneling 3 million gallons of recycled water a day into its cooling turbines to generate energy, despite strong objections from many residents in the Santa Teresa neighborhood where the plant broke ground last week.

``It's a really big win for us,'' said Calpine attorney Joan Gallo, a former San Jose city attorney. ``The issue was raised that, somehow, the recycled water would contaminate water, but it's is a closed system, so it recirculates. There is no evidence at all that the use of recycled water, in any way, would harm the environment.''
